Moberly, MO — Moberly School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kristen Palmer as Principal of Gratz Brown Elementary, effective July 1, 2026.

Mrs. Palmer brings over 25 years of experience in education, including 15 years in school leadership. She has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal, and is known for her strong commitment to student success and her ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.

Currently, Mrs. Palmer serves as Director of the Center for Gifted Education in Columbia Public Schools. In this role, she has led instructional initiatives, supported staff development, and worked to create positive, high-functioning learning environments grounded in collaboration and high expectations.

“We are excited to welcome Mrs. Kristen Palmer to our district as Principal of Gratz Brown Elementary, as her extensive background and experience make her an outstanding addition to our team. We are confident she will be a great fit for the building and have a positive impact on our students, staff, and community,” says Superintendent Cristina Wright.

Mrs. Palmer will assume the role following Mrs. Bobbi Martin, who has been named Assistant Superintendent for the district. Moberly School District appreciates Mrs. Martin’s leadership and dedication to Gratz Brown Elementary and looks forward to her continued service in her new role.

Mrs. Palmer earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and holds advanced degrees from the University of Missouri and William Woods University. She also holds National Board Certification and a specialized certificate in Gifted Education. Mrs. Palmer is married to her husband, Mark, and they enjoy spending time with their adult sons and their wives. In her free time, she enjoys reading, antiquing, and traveling.
