Guidelines for School Attendance
There is a direct relationship between health and learning. If a student is sick, their ability to learn is greatly decreased. Students exhibiting the following symptoms may be sent home and/or should stay home if they have any of the following:
Temperature of 100 degrees or greater
Vomiting with associated signs of illness
Diarrhea
Unusual or unexplained rash
Ongoing symptoms of discomfort or immobility from an injury
A concerning health condition that may require further medical evaluation.
Students may return to school when:
Fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication
Vomiting and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours
Other conditions (rash, injury or health concern) subside or with a provider’s note
To decrease the spread of illness, children being sent home need to be picked up quickly. It is recommended that someone on your student’s contact list be available to pick up a sick student within 15 minutes. It is very important that the school has a current working phone number for parent/guardian contact.
Please refer to Moberly Public Schools student handbook under Health Services for further information, or contact your school nurse.
Medication Administration Form
Medication should be given at home whenever possible. Please refer to your Moberly Public Schools student handbook for more information/policies and procedures for the administration of medication at school. The administration of medication must be approved by the school nurse. A medication form must be completed, signed and returned to the school nurse by a parent or guardian.
Chronic Condition Management Paperwork/Forms
In order to provide the best care for students with Chronic Conditions updated paperwork should be provided to the Nurse’s Office at the beginning of each school year. Please keep your school nurse informed on your child’s current health status.
Immunization Requirements
Missouri State Law requires that a child must be fully immunized before they can attend school. Updated immunization records or exemption status documentation must be provided to the school health office before the first day of school. If there is a question about your student’s immunization status, please check with your school nurse, doctor’s office, or the Randolph County Health Department.
Parents may access and print a copy of their student’s immunization record from their Parent Portal.

School Health & Wellness: Healthy Students Learn Better!
Good health enhances your student’s ability to learn. Schools play an important role in promoting the health and wellness of students. Establishing healthy behaviors during childhood is easier and more effective than trying to change unhealthy behaviors during adulthood. Schools play a critical role in helping children develop lifelong healthy habits.
Moberly Public Schools has an established wellness committee. SHWAC (School Health and Wellness Advisory Committee) is a district committee that meets regularly. Committee meeting dates and agendas will be posted on the district’s website in advance. Students, staff and members of the community are encouraged to provide input on the district’s wellness program.
